Our 2018 Citizen of the Year Bret Hrbek has been involved in the community since childhood. He is a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church serving as an acolyte, choir member, on many committees and in leadership roles. He received the Service Candle award in 2016.
He is an Eagle Scout and has served for many years on the Friends of Scouting Advisory Board.
As a member of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity he has served on the board of directors for 20 years and is currently serving on the Foundation Board.
He has been an active member of the Front Royal Rotary Club since 2001. He lives the Rotary motto “Service Above Self”. He serves on many fundraising committees, is a board member and will serve as board president in 2019, he is a Paul Harris Fellow, traveled to India to administer Polio vaccinations, and he spearheaded bringing the Doc Smith Christmas Basket service project to the club and coordinates that huge undertaking each year.
He has served on the United Way of Front Royal-Warren County Board of Directors for many years and held the position of President.
He served the community as an elected official on town council and as Vice Mayor for several years.
He has been a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones since 2001 and organizes the Edward Jones Race for Education which benefits the Warren Coalition, & both Warren County & Skyline High School Cross Country Teams. 2018 was the 11th year for the race.
He’s also father to Noah (13), Annie (11), Hunter (9), and Luke (5) and husband of 15 years to wife Jessica.
